2008 YoungCuts Film Festival
With the generous support of AVID Technology, Inc., the YoungCuts Film Festival will select winners in twelve categories who will receive their awards at the end of each screening. More than $30,000 in Avid software will be awarded. Award categories include: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Teen Film, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Musical Film, Best Francophone Film, Best Short Short Film and the AVID Grand Prize Awards for Best Film and Best Director.
The 2008 YoungCuts Film Festival launches in style with the High Fidelity HDTV Opening Gala Cocktail Party Thursday August 14 at 6 p.m. at the 5-star Hotel Crystal's La Coupole Restaurant (1100 rue de la Montagne)
Bon Cop Bad Cop producer Kevin Tierney will be speaking to Gala attendees, and High Fidelity HDTV will be premiering high definition programming that YoungCuts filmmakers have created for national broadcast.
Friday Aug. 15 – Thursday Aug. 21 - Daily Screenings and AVID Awards
Daily screenings from the YoungCuts Film Festival 2008 at Cinema du Parc (3575 avenue du Parc). With an average running time of 9 minutes, the films will be shown in blocks of 90 minutes (about 10 films). After each screening, that screening’s featured category award winner will be announced and audiences will vote for their favourites. YoungCuts has chosen the top 100 films for screening.
