Wilson G. Tang was born in New York City and lived there with his mother and brother until they moved to Jackson, Tennessee, where Tang attended Jackson Central-Merry High School. There he met six friends, who together produced a feature length film "Jin Kato Mu - As a Leaf Slowly Falls ...Much Butt Is Kicked". It went on to win the Indie Memphis Film Festival Best of West Tennessee Award in 2001. After this experience, Tang decided to pursue a career in the film industry and went to Florida State University to study in the Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts program. While he was there, he produced the short documentary "My Golden Cage", which has screened at numerous film festivals and won a prestigious Director's Guild of America award for Best Student Film. As his thesis film, he teamed up with his filmmaking partner Demetrius Wren to create "Of My God", an inspiring story about an immigrant mother in a new country--based partly on their own life experiences. He graduated magna cum laude in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and currently is working in Beijing, China. He plans to produce several feature films and help others tell stories.
